My mind, my mentor

Abandon the thought held on only by doubt

You’re allowed a few mistakes as you figure yourself out

Most things don’t come easy despite the world of people who get things their way

Tomorrow might bring your chance if you prepare yourself today

My mind my mentor, my mind my inhibitor

Mine for the taking so long as I know what I’m grasping for

It doesn’t take a village, it only takes one

But the one leaving the village must remember where they’re coming from

Silent is my mentor in my greatest times of need

Lying in the shadows, watching my growth, waiting for me to take the lead.
