My Mirror!

When I look in the mirror, why don't I see what you see?

You see a charming young ma with pretty white teeth.  You see that I have my ears pierced and perceive me to be a dress code violator.  You see a gold cross hanging from a gold chain and consider me to be a religous man.

What you see couldn't be farther from my truth.

I see pretty white teeth that are in a mouth that has to open constantly to educate, defend, compliment, complain, and advise.  I see pierced ears that are necessary for me to hear and understand what I must do in order to be successful in every endeavor that I undertake.  I see a gold cross hanging from a gold chain that were both gifts from my father to celebrate my academic achievements and to encourage me to continue to reach for my goals. Religious, yes, but more important is my spirituality.

I see something totally different from what you see.  I need my mirror every day to see where I will go next!
