My Missing Poetry

Dear poetry, Someone said your name yesterday I looked at them funny How do they know you How do they know that you were once my everything You were laced into my language Like the strings in my old boondoggle squares Poetry you were more than just a flow of words strung together to hang my feelings up Poetry you were my release from being extra You took me on a trip away from my problems Because at the time I couldn't solve them My greatest enabler And my greatest weapon My words will prosper No enemies shall form against them Shall win against them Poetry I thought you died in 2017 I haven't heard from you in a while It's nice for you to visit me But poetry are you staying? Because inconsistency isn't my style And I know my life is wild A theme park ride of sorts But I'm not your baby So you can not abort, abandon, or dispose of me Tell me are you ready for my truth poetry? Sincerely, Jae the Artist
