my Mom

my Mom's favorite song is the

one by Billy Joel, the

one about a certain state of mind.

my Mom likes to polka, she

likes to pretend that

She knows how

especially when She's

sad.

my Mom comes home late

from work, apologizing

for a late dinner, for not being

there.

She doesn't realize how much She

does.

And when i leave

my Mom will shed her emotions-

She will attempt to compose herself before

She surrenders to her tears.

She will hug me once

just to hug me again

She'll pour out her pride.

She doesn't know

How Proud

i am

of Her.
