My Mom, My Inspiration

The strongest people in life are the ones that are presented with seemingly insurmountable challenges, and not only overcome them, but use them to make themselves a better person. My mother grew up as a farmer's daughter, the oldest of three children. I remember her telling me a story when I was younger. She only had three pairs of pants, and one day a pair ripped. There was no money to buy new clothes, so she had to alternate the remaining pairs. I can still hear the sadness in her voice when she told me, “I cried, because now I only had two pairs of pants, and I couldn’t do anything about it.” My mom soon turned the lemons life had given her into the tastiest of lemonade. She went into college as a slightly confused teenager, and came out an educated, determined woman. She works hard every day to make sure her children have the best life possible and are ready for their futures. She teaches classes that educate college students on smart financial moves, and enjoys helping other people overcome their own financial struggles. My mom has pushed through every problem thrown her way, and she inspires me more than anyone I know. I want to set the same example for my own children, and just generally for other people. I want to be as kind, caring, and compassionate as she is. My mother has shown me that through hard work and perseverance, anyone can truly accomplish anything.
