My Mom Says I'm Stubborn
I never give up.
Some people call it perseverance,
my mom just calls it stubbornness,
but I am a fighter.
I fight against injustice,
and I will never stop,
because the world is full of suck.
One thing is for certain:
The world may suck,
poisoning people’s hearts and minds,
but one thing is for certain:
I will never let anyone tear me down.
I have too many rights to defend and fight for
to let someone tell me that I am not beautiful.
I am not perfect―I am covered in scars
I am not pretty―my eyeliner is too thick, my hair never sits right
But I am beautiful.
I am flawless.
I let my beliefs define me,
and I judge other based on their character,
not on their clothing brand.
And I am stubborn, like my mom says,
and I will never give up my right to my self-image
because I am beautiful,
and I will never let anyone take that from me.
