My Monster under the Bed
When anxiety grips you so hard
It takes your breath away...
And not in a romantic sort of way…..
It takes and scares every piece of you
Until you don’t know what is you anymore
Anxiety takes and squeezes what you are
What you ussed to be out from under you…..
It doesn’t forgive you, nor will it ask for
Your forgiveness……
It comes when your fears are so great
So crippling.....
That it takes advantage of you....
It rocks you to your core…..
You’ll never be able away to run from it
It’ll always look for you….
Like an abusive parent looking for it’s lost, lonely child
They never wanted you and they never let you forget it…..
They remind you time after time that you were
Never wanted, never sought, never needed
So when it slaps and beats, kicks and screams at you
You can’t help but whither in fear and pain
In its presence…….
Anxiety pulls and tears this pain you never knew you had
And makes it into your monster under the bed….
The monster who always waits for you at night
Waiting patiently for you to calmly go to sleep
So when you least expect it
Comes out with snarling bloody teeth.....
Ready, to take another
Piece of you again….
Until there’s nothing left to eat
