My Moon on a Dark Night

Wed, 06/11/2014 - 21:22 -- Gabvegi

   To my abuser:

“You worthless piece of shit”

The words echo into my brain,

From a past I have repressed

You thought you could squander my hopes, my dreams

To the hurt, the pain,

the tears you made me shed, goodbye.

Like sand can transform into glass,

So too, I have changed.

Now I am me,

And the man I know now,

Has blessed me – accepted me for being me.

To address you, only gives your evil power.

And now I move on from the wretched memories.

Rise like a phoenix from the flames,

To speak to my true lover, my friend, my hero

To my true love:

With you there is love.

Yes, the truth lies clear, reflects like sparkling water at dawn

Radiates like the moon in a dark night,

You.

The words that flow, like water from a fountain

Elevate my ears to the heavens

The skies awaken, the birds flutter through the horizon

That is my love for you.

You protect me like a knight in battle

A sun after the rain – a light in the dark.

You, Hold me close, allow myself to see the beauty

Beyond the clearest of mirrors, you, darling, open my eyes.

Let me see beyond the foggy past –

The abuse, the lies, the neglect

It is not my body you see or seek,

It is my soul within,

Your x-ray eyes that can pick apart my soul,

Split it into a thousand pieces.

If only other could see like you do.

Biologically, you are blind – that’s what the doctors said.

But I know the truth, your vision is perfect

The vision that goes beyond your “retinal dysfunction”,

What you see is magical. You see me.

See me in a way more real than anyone I’ve known

Authenticity.

With you, my mask is off

You,

Will forever be, my love.
