My Mortal
You, the bright light upfront
That of which teaches appreciation
You, the looming darkness
Whom swallows everything, anytime
You, ever close by at all times
But never clearly there, masked by ignorance
You, a friend to those suffering excruciating pain
But their enemy for being the cause
You, a friend to those who have never witnessed your power
But their enemy for bewitching them with your spells of knowledge
There is no bargaining with you
When one loses you,
They cannot have you back
My great teacher,
I’ve come to know of your dominating existence
I coware at the thought of you
I have shed precious tears because you
Yet, you give meaning to me
Every wink I make
Every breath I take
I realize now that you are the reason
The reason that I awake each passing day
Every year I come to know you more
Every year I know I will meet you eventually
But, you, my forever teacher
Give me lessons no other could ever teach
My mortal
