my mother

Thin nimble fingers that braided my hair,

And dusted off a daughter that ran without care.

Feet that spin in circles and danced with all her might,

But you were the one that tucked me in at night.

Held me soft when my heart felt hard,

Took my sadness and left me unscarred.

Wiped away tears,

And guided me through fears.

My love and my light,

You hold my whole heart with all of your might.

Through sickness and health,

Through brokenness and wealth.

You are my mother, my protector, and keeper,

I'll sing your praises ever sweeter and sweeter.
