My Mother
This woman is not my mom.
I will never call her mom.
I will never introduce her as my mom.
My children will not know her as their grandma.
What would ever bring a mother to hurt her children in the way she did.
To let a man hurt her children in the way he did.
Meeting a mother for the first time in years in a prison is not normal.
Seeing a mother twice a year is not normal.
Disliking a mother with such a passion is not normal.
My sister forgives her, and chooses to be close with her.
I stay cordial, and keep her distant.
This woman is not my mother.
She will never be my mother.
My mother will not speak at my wedding.
My mother will not help raise my children.
My mother will not be a part of my children's lives.
I forgive my mother, for the ugly she has put in my life.
But I do not forget the ugly she has put in my life.
She is not my mom, and I thank God for that everyday.
