My Mother

My mother is not my mother The older I got, the more I acknowledged My mother is not my mother No, but she’s the only person I remember being there for me She taught me how to walk Left right left She taught me how to talk ABC She taught me how to tie my shoes Bunny ears My mother is not my mother No, but she’s always sticking up for me Like a lion protects their cub Always cheering me up Happy as a child entering the McDonald’s play place The smell of excitement fills the air Their happiness all over the place My mother is not my mother No, but she comforts me and makes sure I’m okay Taking care of me, cautious like 2 penguins protecting their eggs Keeping them warm and comfy until they’re ready to grow My mother is not my mother No, but she stood by me every step of the way No matter where I’m at, I know I can count you Like a baby bald eagle counting on its mother to bring it some nourishment My mother is my mother
