As my Mother Told me Many Times

Dear Societal Norms...

To behave, to sit, to talk and not spit,

Walk the right way, hips not to sway

As my mother told me many times.

Chin up high, do not sigh,

Ankles must cross, always floss

As my mother told me many times.

Make my bed, the dog be fed,

The music turned down, do not frown

As my mother told me many times.

Keep proper hours, reject all flowers,

Study very hard, always be on guard

As my mother told me many times.

Go to sleep, not a peep,

Cuddle in my lap, with me take a nap

As my mother told me many times.

Listen to me, and you will see,

Watch and see, repeat after me

As I told my daughter many times.
