My Mother's Soul

My Mother’s Soul

The whitewashed sea reflected the chestnut sky

My mother's hands lay on my gentle face

And the sun fell down from its candleplace

While a warm tingle shot through my inspired eye

High up top on a condo place

I watch my mom move with gentle grace

As her hands make my favorite supper thing

I cannot help to wonder what has begun

Is such a woman really real?

Or am I on heavens mantleplace

I see the dolphins glide through the waves

I reach out my hand to greet our passing friends

Then they whistle a touching goodbye

For I know they will always have me in mind

Much like my mother in this wondrous life

My mother points to the transmuting sky

Colors changing from blue to wine

And I can see her in the sky

High above where angels fly

Her contour reminds me of a leopard’s hide

And she whispers a loving line

I may not understand quite just yet

But she reaffirms I will in time

Oh Mother you confirm my purpose here

In time may you understand

That your loving is matched by my nurtured heart

And let our souls be a testament to that

In a matter of fact

You mother are more than mine
