My Mountain
As I approach the mountain grows taller.
Its shadow casts down me making me cold and afraid,
But I will not let it overpower me.
I will let its challenges transform me.
Transform me into a mountain myself.
An immovable force.
A solid sturdy being.
Then I realize,
I am not facing a real mountain.
I am simply reading about one.
However, this doesn't phase my newfound determination.
I can feel the character’s emotions.
I feel her struggle.
Her pain.
Her hope.
All of which I have in my own life.
Though she is facing a real mountain,
I am facing a metaphorical one.
It’s just as threatening.
It threatens me to me give up.
It threatens me to fail.
It will not win.
I am not afraid of failure.
I will pass my concurrent classes.
I will perform a great winter guard solo.
I will not mess up my dance in front of the school.
I will pass all my classes with an A.
I will graduate with a 4.00 GPA.
I will win.
I will climb my mountain
And rejoice at its peak.
As I look at the mountains ahead of me,
Some even taller than the first,
They will not overpower me.
I will have failures,
But then,
I will persevere.
