My Music
While not technically my own,
It feels like it belongs to me.
Every note, chord, and word,
Written just for me.
It’s the music that I love,
The music that I can relate to.
“My song”, “my jam”, or whatever else,
Only begins to describe my appreciation.
Having been around music my entire life,
I have quite the ear for it.
Minor chords, major chords, Picardy thirds,
Intervals, and incorrect pitches.
Something about music just speaks my language,
Whether it’s choral, radio, or my favorite group.
I love to read music and sing different rhythms,
Create harmonies, and just listen.
Without music, I would not have anything.
12 semesters so far, and I’m not even in college yet.
As a child, I loved music and was too afraid to try it.
Sixth grade was my year to shine.
Since then, I haven’t been able to get away.
I may not have written the actual song,
But I consider it my music,
And it made me who I am today.
