My Name

In English my name means popularity. In French, verdant and blooming. In our society my name is just a five letter word that sounds appealing, yet in countries such as France and Greece, it is like a blossoming flower, vibrant and full of life. “Chloe” is the sense of pleasure brought on by my mother’s perfume.

I was named from a baby book. My mother had never heard of it before  This, as far as my parents know, proves me to be the first family member with the name “Chloe”. There are no generational lines of history stored within those five letters; allowing me to create my own story.

My story will be worthy to tell. It will consist of qualities such as intelligence, respect, integrity, and determination. My name will mean compassion and strength. When mentioned in the years to come, it will be thought of as honorable.

As I delve into my 18 year old story, the changes are never ending. I am the soul which never sleeps. I don’t let life run me over with its desperations. I have inherited a brand new film of chances and risks for this word: Chloe.

At school they say my name as if it is so simple and meaningless. Their vocals have no problem forming this short word. But to me it is of something much sweeter and lively. Not quite as menacing as my brother’s—Joseph—which has family value sewn between the letters or as empowering as Kiera, my sister, but still full of promise.

             It embodies ME.
