My Name is?
Dear Mekenzie,
In Irish my name means comely.
It can also mean born of fire.
It means beauty, it means attraction.
It is like the number seven, a vibrant color.
It is the classic records my father never
Played on Sundays mornings, for he was
In his own world be it here or there,
Singing songs of allure.
It was no one's name before it was mine.
I think it's better to come from nothing,
There is no expectation.
I make my own destiny,
No one to live up to,
No one pushing my life in a specific directing.
I can be a strong women.
And... Me,
My great grandchildren will wish they could have known me.
An independent strong willed person,
so strong willed that I always find a way to make it.
Things slow me down, but if there is a will there's a way I always say.
Keep pushing forward.
That's how I do things.
And my story will be an ambiguous one.
Was I the little girl who didn't know any better
And thought things were okay,
A happy kid that bad things happened to but didn't know it.
Or was I the happy little girl who always knew that everything
Was all wrong but decided that I couldn't do anything about it,
Until I could.
Maybe I was an unhappy kid.
Who knows.
Mekenzie.
The name I took from no one,
The name that I can turn into anything.
Love,
Mekenzie
