My Name is America
I waved through the battles of fury in the first years of my birth
I charged into battle to save the respect and pride of my soul
I am witness of the battles fought for my freedom
I am the tears of grief when my children faced terror
I wept when they were attacked by the enemies of mankind
I laughed with my head tall when they won the fight for my revenge
I am the mother of great leaders
I am the pride of my dear soldiers
I am the sword that fights for humanity
I am Goddess of immeasurable beauty
I am Daughter of the Sun
My limbs radiant and flashing
I am as cool and pure as the moon
My motherly heart reaching out to all
My sons and daughters looked at me with pride and love
But alas that is not today
Today my motherly heart weeps
Today my soldiers go to wars, forgotten
Today my grandchildren taunt my past
Today my children make me suffer
Today they kill each other
Today my children forget the hardships I once faced for them
They do not know me anymore
I am no longer a mother
I am a widow
My beauty lost, some withered by age, other lost in weeping
Today my children no longer hold me up with care
No longer I am that beauty that was the envy of great countries
No longer am I that mother that all respected
I am the childless widow injured by ones she called her own.
Even though I am the home of so many, I have no one to call my own
My Founding Fathers looks down from the heavens, lost in despair
Blaming themselves wondering where they went wrong
They had put so much love into adorning me
Taking special care in deciding the future of their kids
But what may be done if the children become disobedient
Listening to no one abandoning the sense of right
Forgetting the mother and fathers that so lovingly made their children’s lives easier by putting themselves in hardships
