My Necessity

My essential necessity

Is not merely an object or a thing

It's the fire withing me

My fire is what keeps me going

When I'm dragged into the mire of depression

It's the thing that's saving me

My spark spurs me on

When I'm surrounded by inequality and injustice

It helps me fight to make it gone

The thing I need

Is not something somebody could touch or harm

But it's something they could see
