My New Angel

Dear, God

It all started June first, two thousand seventeen.

Late that night she had gone missing.

My cousin Jamaari was just a teen.

Thoughts immediately began reminiscing.

I couldn’t believe what was happening.

Body began to feel cold & blue.

My whole world felt like it was blackening.

I didn’t want to believe it could be true.

I began to cry out “God what did you do?”

With my tears pouring and pouring out.

I didn’t even get to say goodbye to you.

That day felt like such a drought.

Never would I have pictured my life without your presence.

But now your watching me from the heavens.
