My Old Friend

There you are, so delicate and at peace.

Little hands resting on me as I kiss your check.

These moments seem to fleet, pass by at a glance.

Moments thought to never happen or exude a feeling I never want to leave.

And there you are, my old friend.

The nights blur and fade, morning comes and the sun stays.

There you are old friend, holding my hand through these moments of rocking and swaying.

The nights have become the friend of these new days, please stay you aren't so bad.

Moon, oh, graceful moon,

My old friend through the moments of a little angel needing me so much.

The times we share are forever the greatest, how you have become my friend.

As this sweet child grows, I sway less, rock less, talk to the moon less.

Oh old friend how I adore the long nights with you, how you aren't forver like these little hands.

My old friend, thank you for this time.

Seeing me, reminding me the time passes,

Showing me to be still and admire the little life you shine on, the one in my arms,

Such little hands, little face, little time for you to stay up late.

My old friend, can't you stay till forever ends?
