My Old Mother

My mom is making samosa

My favorite Indian snack

The smell of spices fill the air

To my childhood, it brings me back

She sighs and complains of leg pain

I realize times are not the same

She is getting older

It is me to blame

I go into the kitchen

To ask if she needs some assistance

For it is my responsibility

To take care of her until the end of her existence
