My Only Friend

My only friend,

loud amid the day and continues through the night

my biggest advocate, my most lethal enemy

my poisonous lover

My only friend,

is no where to be found

yet appears when least expected and

torments me as I struggle to find truth

My only friend,

exists within me yet screams so loudly as if outside of me

as it stabs me and comforts me simultaneously

perhaps its only a figment of my imagination

My only friend,

is the one thing I can’t live without

My only friend,

is my mind that roams the emptiest of rooms

the darkest of hearts

and the deepest of eyes

as it searches for answers never explained

and phenomenons never explored

My only friend,

is a thought that enters by day and leaves by night
