My Optimism
There's something inside me that's always been there
It's not a muscle nor a bone, in fact it cannot be seen
The thing inside me is an idea and it's one I hold close
I appreciate it when I'm happy and look to it when I'm ever so sad
Thinking to childhood I beamed with it everyday
This time around, I still have it, but I don't think when I use it
I just do.
The thing inside me eludes nearly everyone I know
You have to be born with it to have it through life
You have to want it to keep it through life.
Time and hardship want to wear it down, make it weak
Trials and evil will dim its light, make it disappear
Yet as long as you stay as strong as I have, you can protect it and keep it forver
When I am falling into an abyss I can use it to float back up
If the darkness is closing in, its shine will blow the dark fog away with bright rays
It's in every smile I have in a day.
It's mending every wound I've taken from a tongue lashing
Why people ever say I have to much of it, I don't think I'll ever understand
This thing inside me is my ultimate inspiration
It is my drive to improve and aspire
I would die without it, but it will never go away
I won't let it wither and it won't let me fail
Everything I do spouts from its existance
It is everything I am
