My Other Side

Dear undisclosed part of me

you have now become my other side

a stranger to others

a friend who hides

a woman of color

who stripes run wide

I have given you opportunities

to finally show your pride

but your selfishness prevail you

from truly seeing the light

I grow ashamed in calling you my other side

so I wrap you in solitude

to keep them from peeking inside

till the day you grow old and die
