My own self

I look into the mirror a demon in disguise,

I am not my own self,

for today I am another,

my heart is losing to the pain my mind has inflicted,

this is the day I become another,

tell me mind will you not let me rest?

for I am restless from you,

And the memories you are showing me,

Fear engulfs me,

because I see you in my reflection,

you who taught me hate

but I am not my own self

and must realize it,

so I remind myself that I am me

and my wounds have been healed,

but my scars remain a reminder,

reminding me of the destiny I must have,

and when I sleep the demons grab hold of me,

I am losing my heart and soul,

to you that showed me no kindness,

I see her in my own reflection,

you are not yourself today I say,

and there is hope still,

And I hold on to the thought,

the thought of becoming my own self.
