My Own Story
Such fame and glory
Spotlight on me
Called out in good ways
Master of the game
Shoved into a role of an adult
Treated as a kid all the same
Expectations climb higher
Too much commitment and dedication
Spread thin as butter
Too kind, not enough of my own narration
I love them still
Friends who see me through different shadows
Mentors who can look through the mask
Obliviated parents
Teachers who know nothing, but which they teach
Food chain of life
Competition I never wanted
I had no choice or swallowed up by jealous hands
Adaption or embarrassment
Escape through many doors
Though each house has only one room
Back into the cold reality of the world
Trying to find meaning or control
Stories that reflect the inner turmoil
Movies with people split in two
Mine of magical escape
Neverland, Narnia, The Underground
I call on you
Take me away from this place
No responsibilities
Exciting adventures
Survival of the clever
I don’t want to live my own story
