My Own Worst Enemy

Dear brain,

You have chained me

Forever slain me

And force me, to be shut

Now with my back against the wall

I can’t find the strength to fight back at all

I am trapped

Trapped by the feelings that swirl up inside

These feelings scare me

And force me to hide

Knowing that whatever I do

I’ll never be as good as you
Good job

The simple phrase that I wanted to hear

For almost 18 god awful years

Find a way

Cause I know that one day

I’ll prove them all wrong

To show I belong

I’m insane

In fact I’m hellbent

Trying to earn his time

But now I see I’m just wasting mine

I repent

I have lost so much life

Acting and saying what I thought was right

What a shame

A shame for this loss but who can I blame

Not him, for he was just himself

And it’s not like I can blame anyone else

It’s me

For at last I see

My own worst enemy is

Truly Me

Sincerely,

Eddie Fitzgerald IV
