My Past Has Made Me Grateful
I see the way she looks at clothes she can't afford,
The way she looks inside the empty refrigerator.
Every week she prays to the lord,
She says, "maybe I can buy it later."
I can't get a job,
I'm fifteen and I have no ride.
I hope she can't hear my heart throb,
When she denies necessaties with false pride.
It hurts to see her trying to get by,
A single mom with three kids to raise.
A year passes with the blink of an eye,
We are full of thanks and praise.
A new job, and a new momma,
a full fridge, and a full heart.
No more financial drama,
It's time for a fresh start.
My mom is happy,
and every day we thank God.
We are no longer unhappy,
And my mom 's smiles are broad.
Everything is awesome.
