To my past lover..
I no longer dream of you.
I no longer feel the need to love you 24 hours a day,7 days a week.
If anything. After all this time. I feel betrayed.
I feel as though I was entirely fooled into loving you.
Let me explain.
I remember when I met you.I remember you being the humorous, intelligent, human being that you are.
Or at least..the one I thought you were..
Everything about you was absolutely fascinating.
Maybe it was the way you’re face lit up when you knew an answer to a problem.
Or perhaps the way your dimples appeared when you smiled.
Either way, I fell for you.
And when you asked me to be yours, I was enlightened with joy.
I don’t understand it now.
We held hands, went on walks, and talked for hours on the phone at night.
Heck.
You told me you loved me!
Not sure if it was ever true or not.
We had a class together.
We were genuinely Happy!
We were delightfully in love!
Or at least..I was.
The week before my birthday I noticed how you slowly began to become distant.
I never said anything because I felt that if I did,you wouldn’t appreciate it.
So I kept quiet. And God,how I wish you knew how much it killed me to keep quiet from asking you!
Two days before my birthday you had to go somewhere with your cousin after school.
I didn’t mind because I wished the happiest for you.
Most likely because I loved you.
The next day I arrived at our school and noticed how you weren’t there.
In a frantic panic, I immediately asked all your friends if they’d seen you.
They then told me you were absent.
By now,I was extremely worried.
I remember you telling me how strict your mother was and how she never let you miss school unless it was an emergency.
So right after school I had my best friend text you what was wrong.
You didn’t reply.
I sent a message from her phone explaining it was me.
You then almost immediately replied.
You explained that you couldn’t walk because you were really sick.
I felt helpless.
Absolutely helpless.
I left home.
We had our first argument that night.
Our very first argument.
One thing led to another and in minutes the argument ended.
My heart shattered.
My smile faded.
And every memory of me and you hit me like a the ocean hitting a surfer’s board.
I began to solemnly cry.
I cried discreetly for weeks.
I finally stopped.
I finally see the person you really are.
The person I so willingly fell in love with..was a heartless jerk.
He didn’t care that I cried a bit in class everyday.
He didn’t care that I really did love him.
No!
He still doesn’t care!
They say “Nothing like time to heal a broken heart.”
I presume the people are indeed correct!
And that my love, leads me back to my statement..
I no longer dream of you.
