My pawpaw

A few short weeks and my birthday will come.

Little do people know, I do not enjoy this time of the year.

It's a day that is no longer shared with a loved one.

I was a child when his body left,

I was a child when I thought I would never see him again,

but every now and then he shows that he's still here.

I don't remember much,

Just our birthdays spent together.

The girly, pink and white barbie cake we shared,

along with family all around.

Now the day isn't the same.

I wish I knew him more,

Everyone shares stories and I enjoy them so.

I only wish I could share the day with him again.

He's still here in spirit, my pawpaw.
