For My People

We hold our breath.

We bite our tongue.

We never let our song

be sung.

A melody which i cannot

explain to thee.

No soprano nor bass.

No jingle nor jangle.

The day will come when there

is no place to run

When the light within those

Precious eyes dies.

Then and there will our

song be sung.

Then and there will our soul

be found.

Then and there will it be safe and

Sound.

Then and there will my people

be free.
