my perception of beauty

Every morning when I awake, it hits me

like the hot blistering Arizona sun

only theres not just one

no dozens of faded brown and bright red spots

i mean hell, it looks like i got a case of the chicken pox

only.. its just on my face

pimples, and craters, and blackheads galore

and every morning and every night i scrub and i scrub

my face

red with cleansers and toners and exfoliators

and everyday i remain in vain

and i breed within myself a newfound hate

for this skin of mine that i cannot escape

and i cover, and i conceal, and i paint on a thick foundatioin

and everyday i remain in vain

i see right through the makeup

and i wish i could change my perception of beauty

and develop some newfound new me confidence

but instead i crumble and crack like my skin from acne
