My Personal Star

Hey Mom,

I really miss you, I swear I think about you everyday. You passed away when I was only 8 so I don’t have may memories if you like my friends do with their mothers. I do remember a few things about you like the soft caress of you loving voice and the way you used to hug me tight in your arms. I also remember you being very sickly and hardly being able to breathe sometimes. You used to be hooked up to those oxygen machines and at the the time I didn’t know why. Whenever I would ask you would divert my attention to a safer place by reading me my favorite book (Green Eggs & Ham by Dr. Seuss) or makinging me a quick snack.

Even if you weren’t here for the longest time you made every second of every minute of everyday special in my heart. You passed away April 9th, 2008. I'll never forget that date. Just the week before I had come to see you in the hospital and those visits always made me happy, except this time I was mad. I was upset about getting the infamous “red slip” in school and I brought that negativity towards you. I am sorry for that by the way. Instead of reflecting my energy back at me you just took my feelings into consideration and hugged me tightly until I was overcame with the biggest, goofiest smile. It’ll be 10 years since I lose you this year. I’ve grown so much over this span of time. From graduating 2nd in my class to making school history by leading my team to playoffs for the first time, I’ve done it all by remembering you.

Even in your absence you have been my darkness in the light and whenever I feel weak your love gives me strength. Even though I know you wont respond to this letter because you can’t i still am happy to write it because it give me a chance to get my feelings off my chest. To express my deep love and gratitude for you. I will continue to do great things  and make you proud. I know you're somewhere looking down on me smiling because i’ve never seen you frown. As I write this with my eyes watering and my chest thumping these are emotions of happiness because I know that no matter what I can say I had a wonderful mother

Yours Truly,
