My Phantasmal Lover

My heart is split into two

Between I can continue and the other I would be shunned

Cast out,

A pariah.

I don't have the callus for such ignorant human beings.

With their slanderous and serpentine tongues!

Would compunction overtake these, Nay!

I am diffident amongst men

I am paltry,

Nothing to them!

I am malleable yet fallible,

My life is a nebulous trepidation.

You, my lover are but a pittance of my imagination.

I have been quelled by men and women

This dirge is not for them, but for you.

My gauche lover, whoever you may be.

Whatever dauntless forms you may betake.

I am callow, and you may very well be my first mistake.

This declivity is precipitous.

You have filched my heart.

Now it is undoubtably yours to take.

Yet I must say,

This nirvana will not end today.

Not with this poem

Nor with my forthcoming death.
