My Poem to Zack
This is an old poem, I wrote it about 5 years ago when I loss my best friend to a car accident. He and I had talk like a few days before the accident, and the last thing I remember telling him is "I'll holla atchu later." So here is goes.
So they say that you died in a car accident...
Hearing it over the phone, I was hoping that it was a false statement
But I begin to receive more and more calls that said the same thing
Hoping and praying to myself that it was just one miserable dream
Reality slapped me in the face and said that you were really gone
Which was crazy cause, a couple days before, we were talking on the phone
You called just to check up on me, because you always did things like that
But we never finish the conversation becuase I told you that I had to unpack
The last words I said to you were that "I'll holla atchu later."
Not knowing that the next time I saw your face it would be on a sheet of paper
Crying on and off for three straight nights, gave me the worst headche
Tried lifting weights, but dealing with this, there was just no way
So I begin to look back on all the good times that we've had as friends
Rush home from school to watch tv and pretend we were dating the Landry twins
You would have Tia and I'd take Tamera
We use to hang together like a bird and a feather
Because of you, I experience my first suspension out of school
But since it really wasn't our faults, everything turned out cool
Football season and practices were fun for us too
Never said anything but there was a time you knocked the wind out of me, boy was I made at you
Then there was the time you scored 6 touchdowns in one game
Then you quit....Left me thinking, this season would never be the same
So yeah, I feel like a bird with no feather
But I know no matter what we'll always be friend forever
I refuse to say good bye, which is what most do when your face appears on this sheet of paper
It just wouldn't make any sense because I already told you that "I'll holla atchu later."
