my point of view
As I write this, I am closing on the last few hours of being the age of seventeen years old. I have traveled, experienced, laughed, cried, but I still have yet to live. Traveled to places such as New York, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina and even the motherland known as afrika. Yes I realize the name of the continent is not spelled in the American way, but the natural way. The country known as the USE is one of the most confusing, exotic countries known; with its customs, traditions, and especially its language. They teach you how to read and write a certain way for a long time, but as you progress in education, you realize that you have been taught wrong and must learn the new style quickly. The customs are ridiculous because people are truly hypocritical. Telling others to abide by rules and regulations, but those whom are making those so called “rules” are ignoring it themselves. With traditions, certain ceremonies area passed down generation to generation. As the ceremony is passed down, it loses its meaning and changes its ways. They say change is good, but how is it good to embrace the ignorance or bullying on to someone? With travel and work comes experience. While laughter and tears go hand in hand. Laughter for joy and tears for depression. Two strong emotions, which balance each other. Similar the tattoo I have acquired on 10-28-12. Yin Yang symbol, reading idealism above yang and realism below yin. This tattoo represents my form of thinking. Idealism belongs to the yang because it is optimistic. Desiring happiness and pleasure. However the purpose of realism associating with yin is due to the fact that it is pessimistic. Dealing with the fallacy of reality, handling stress, whether it be physical, mental, social, or even emotional. These two words balance each other. No matter what the struggle may be, idealism is there to give you hope. Realism is there to regulate the confidence level and desires.
Now that I have witnessed so much, I am afraid of actually living. I am afraid of falling into the turmoil of this life. I would rather be back in elementary school, taking naps and eating snacks. Back then, I was in a rush to grow up. Ready for freedom. What I didn’t know as the consequences that came along with my wish. Now I truly understand, “Watch what you ask for, you might actually get it.” Either way, no matter what I go through, I thank the Lord for bestowing on to me so many privileges’. Now I understand why he didn’t want Adam or Eve eating the forbidden fruit….
