My Princess's Loss

I left my heart with my princess the day it happened.

As she saw the tragedy,

I heard her weep from miles above.

She stood frozen as she entered the house.

The wounds on my neck seeped red dye onto the marble-tiled kitchen floor.

She screamed, trying to revive what was already gone,

but the cold touch of The Reaper had already captivated my soul.

My princess was too late to save her very own king.

I became a ghostly figure who remained in her life.

At her high school graduation,

I was there. I just wasn’t present.

At the births of my two granddaughters,

I was there . I just wasn’t present.

And as she walked down the aisle of her wedding,

I made sure that I walked by my princess’s side.

It was a tragedy that occurred on the day I was separated from her.

I was cast away miles above her, with my existence no longer in existence,

but although Heaven has me in its keeping,

my princess has me in her heart.
