My Realization
My childhood flew by in a flash.
I was creative without a care.
I’d hang out with friends and we’d have a bash.
I learned how to play nice and fair.
What a child I was.
I got responsibilities as I grew old.
I gained more strength by playing sports.
I learned the rules and did as I was told.
I lost the time to build fun forts.
What a child I was.
Junior year came and that’s when it hit,
My whole life was changing tracks.
I knew that college would be here in a bit.
Information from schools were sent to me in packs.
What a child I was.
No longer were my parents pulling me along.
It was time I go out and get what I want.
Many à times I heard my favorite childhood song,
But no more time was there to be nonchalant.
What a child I was.
Now I think of the future;
Less wants and more needs.
My oh my how important it is to be mature.
All that careless fun has fallen through my hands like beads.
What a child I was.
