To My Responsibilities, I'm Sorry
Today I can't get out of bed.
I'm chained here with my own thoughts and emotions as my only company.
The pain shackles my feet retracting all desire,
all motive,
all function.
Today the bed wins.
Today the pain,
the thoughts,
the emotions can have me.
All plans are hereforth cancelled.
All phone calls will be answered by my voicemale.
All homework will sit begging for me to finish it.
To my responsibilities, my life,
I'm sorry.
I'm too busy having a staring contest with my ceiling
and losing.
How can I explain to my friends,
my family,
my boss, that I couldn't get out of bed?
How can I explain that the only hugs I got today were from the shackles of my depression
freeing me of all functin.
Today the bed claims another day.
I have high hopes for tomorrow
but tomorrow never comes.
