My Role Model
The burning sensation had you running back for more
It opens up a whole world or possibilities to explore
You become tolerate to the pain of others
And a woman I wish I didn’t have for a mother
You try to kill away all the memories and make yourself believe
But when you wake, you remember everything and realize the hurt will never leave
You’re stuck in this apathetic moment, while I’m still growing up
You don’t remember my jokes or my secrets
You only fill me with disgust
You never came to see my play, when I got the lead role
Or even a single soccer game at my school
The pain inside is anchored and incredibly bare
I can no longer spread my wings in your polluted air
The fumes from your failures are suffocating
I must break free from your chains and learn to fly
There is no more waiting
In leaving I must let go of my past and give my wounds time to heal
It has stolen every part of you I could have had
And now there is nothing left to steal
But in everything you are, is everything I will never be
It has shaped a Role Model, don’t you see?
