My Roots and Leaves

Once bright lights,

City glare,

Now corn fields,

County fair.

At home, I guess?,

Country life,

I don’t fit in,

Location strife.

Made some friends,

Beef farmers,

They aren’t like me,

Country charmers.

I play sports,

All alone,

I started running,

Comfort zone.

Practice after practice,

Extra work,

Fighting the clock,

Competition lurk.

On the track,

Center stage,

I shock them all,

Front page.

I never stop,

Never break,

Never quit,

That’s a mistake.
