My Safe Haven

Because spoken language cannot always describe

The convoluted emotions

That I feel

Because revealing to others the depths of my soul

Is not always an option

Conviction through the pen

On a bare and fragile sheet of paper

My heart open

Eyes full of tears

It is my consolidation

My reassurance in a world full of contingency

I am safe at my desk

With a lamp and a stream of light

To keep me company

I am tranquil and sound

Detached from the surrounding world

In a space of my own

A semblance of peace
