My Sailor

I count the days until you must depart When the bond between us could slip away Not wanting our mem'ries to waste, decay. Did we doom ourselves from the very start? Did destiny force you to tear my heart? "You are young, it will never work" they say You gone at sea, while on shore I must stay. Few days together, too many apart. I will wait for you, the man I adore With hope, not fear, of what tomorrow brings. I'll sit by the phone, and stare at the door To receive your love, of which a Muse sings All after what I cannot prepare for: To let you go- the hardest of all things.
