My Sanity
Usually I feel fine
Tonight I don't
I want to throw a violent tantrum
Like a 4 year old
Who can't find any other way
To express his anger
I want to rip my hair out
Curl up in a ball
Cry til my carpet sponges with salty tears
I want to scream that I can't
I just can't do it anymore
Say that the voices
The ones in my head
They told me to cry and cuss and break
Then my sanity cradles me in its arms
I don't give up anymore
Suddenly I'm 17
I take in expansious deep breathes
I'm the master of my emotions again
I primp and pick my hair
Roll up my back one vertebrae at a time
I'm still not sure if I can make it
But the voices I'm my head
They no longer whisper eerie nothings
I examine my body
I'm okay physically, not mentally
The one good thing I can say
My sanity had a face
It was his face
His skinny built arms that picked me up
His rough hands and long fingers
That wiped my tears away
And wiped my tears away
And he wiped my tears away
In my aftermath
A question occured
Was it my sanity or him
That saved me from myself?
He'd be my one thing to take
If I were deserted on an island
