My Scholarship Plea
· Highschool is over, you’re happy as can be
You start looking for a college,
Which one is right for me?
You stumble across a couple, but none stand out
Then you stumble across one that doesn’t leave a pout
You get a little nervous, how am I gonna pay?
You hope and pray that maybe your parents will lead the way
Working all summer, dollar plus dollar
You’re already wishing your tuition bill were smaller
But “College is worth it”, that’s what they all say
Are they just saying that cause they don’t have to pay?
After months and months college is here,
You’re already completing your first year
You go in your wallet, only to see its empty,
But before college started, there was more than plenty
Days go by, so do dollars
You need money so you give grandma a holler
She gives you the money but it doesn’t last
You’re scared how your money is going so fast
You begin to question, is college right for me?
Can I still make money without a degree?
Weeks later you drop out, your parents are mad
You tell them you don’t have the money, you don’t mean anything bad
In a society where intelligence is such a great thing,
Why should you need so much money to bring?
Education is required; it makes the world go round,
So why do I have to feel like my bills are making me drown?
