To my Self-Doubt

Dear Anxiety,

You have been there for me

when others could not

Unfortunately you also hurt me

when I could not stop you.

Others say it's just shyness and it will go away

but I know that you stick around, in my head

You make me think that the world is out to get me

but I know you didn't mean to be there.

Wrong place, wrong time.

That's the world in total.

You do let me know that somethings that I say

are not right for me to say

You could say think before you speak.

But you stick when the important things come to life.

When I need to order something, when I need to speak up.

But you let me know that things are not perfect.

But I need to let others hear my voice

and I need to let you go.

You are like an old friend

Someone who cares but cares too much

And now I say good-bye, old friend.

Sincerely,

Marie Mejorado
