My Shadow Walks

My shadow walks,

Head high,

Nose up,

Afraid of nothing.

She slithers along,

Her trail of smoke

Behind her.

She survives on

Water and

Aspartame,

On Citalopram and

Razor blades.

My shadow inhales

Insecurity,

And exhales

Self-destruction.

She demands attention,

Leaving scar tissue as

A reminder.

She consumes my

Periphery,

And leads me down

Her scorched earth

Path.

I've seen and lived and felt a lot of stuff in my 17 years. So I write about it. I hope you read it.
