My shadow went to heaven

Sat, 12/01/2018 - 09:57 -- Eeshaez

1st April, 2017, Saturday morning around 8

It was a moment of grief and sorrow

For the first time in forever, she lied to us

Requesting the doctors and begging us to take her home from the ICU ward

Telling us she’d be perfectly fine once we take her home

But instead of being fine ,that angel went to heaven

She left us all grief-stricken and inconsolable

For the first time in forever, I cried upon meeting her

For the first time in forever, she didn’t greet me with a smile

For the first time in forever, she didn’t kiss me on my forehead

For the first time in forever, tears rolled down my father’s cheek as he laid her in her grave

‘Dadi’ I used to call her though we were more like best friends

Thousands of people gathered around her but she didn’t utter a word

Yes, it was grandma’s funeral

All moaning and wailing asking her why did you leave us

While I stood beside her and secretly uttered,

I wait , I wait for the day when we will meet in heaven
